SAVE THE DATEThe Winter Meeting of the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI) will be held February 22-25, 2011, in Daytona Beach, FL, hosted by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU). A highlight of the meeting will be a special “Lessons Learned” Training Workshop Thursday morning, February 24th. This Workshop will focus on outcomes-based accreditation and its role in stimulating significant programmatic and institutional innovation and improvement. Topics such as sustainability, environmental factors, industry involvement and institutional support will be addressed. The Educators Response to the Industry/Educator Forum will be held Thursday afternoon. Educators will respond to the challenges presented by industry from this summer’s I/E Forum. The theme, Instilling Professionalism and Character in Tomorrow’s Aviation Leaders and Operators, was a review of current and emergent elements of legal responsibility, new tools of safety management, and suggested outcomes for flight crews, air traffic controllers, maintenance personnel, and other aviation professionals. Plan now to attend this informative session. The Forum has been a useful device for AABI to maintain alignment between the aviation industry and educator member institutions, ultimately serving the interests of graduates of those institutions. The formal cycle of summer presentation by industry members and winter responses from educators keeps all stakeholders engaged in this important exchange.
